Course Overview

The goal of this course is to improve your design skills. Theory and practice are combined in this course because they both contribute to better design performance. Readings and lectures will outline the basic ideas that support design as a human endeavor. The weekly design challenges assess your ability to use such concepts to address actual issues.

The course covers every area of design, including clothes, services, graphics, architecture, engineering goods, and products. This is done on purpose. The course focuses on the fundamental steps in design: define, explore, select, and refine. As a student, you contribute your specific interests and knowledge from areas such as engineering, furniture, fashion, architecture, or goods to the course.

About half of the participants in the previous training sessions were beginners, and the other half had some professional design experience. The course seemed to be quite beneficial to both groups. Your peers assess all of your project work, and you will also be a peer reviewer. With this style, you can get insightful criticism on your own project and view an intriguing assortment of projects.
