Arya stepped off the plane in London. The air was cool and smelled of rain. She clutched her worn backpack, feeling a little nervous and very excited. This big, busy city was now her home for the next three years while she studied history.
The first few weeks at the university were a blur of new faces and long hallways. Arya found her room small but cozy. The hardest part was understanding the quick-talking professors and making new friends. She often ate dinner alone, watching the London lights flicker outside her window. She missed the warm sun of her home country very much.
One afternoon, she felt truly lost in the huge library. She could not find the right book for her essay. A girl with bright red hair, named Chloe, saw Arya looking confused.
“Are you looking for the Roman section?” Chloe asked kindly. “It’s always hidden.”
Arya nodded quickly, happy to hear a friendly voice. Chloe showed her the shelf and invited her for a hot chocolate afterwards. They talked for an hour about their classes, their families, and the confusing bus system.
From that day on, Arya and Chloe were inseparable. They studied together, explored the historical parts of the city, and even learned how to make each other's favorite foods. With a good friend by her side, the cold, grey London sky didn't feel lonely anymore. Arya’s journey had begun, not just with books, but with a friendship.
