Being a commerce student is not as simple as it looks. Sure, we might not have practical labs like science students, but we have our own battles. The biggest enemy in our lives is the Balance Sheet.
If you are not a commerce student, you won't understand the pain of solving a long question for thirty minutes, only to find out that the two sides do not match.
The Assets side says 50,000, and the Liabilities side says 49,900. Just a difference of 100 rupees can make you pull your hair out! You check the whole calculation three times. You doubt your calculator. You doubt your brain. Finally, you realize you wrote a 6 instead of a 9.
When the Balance Sheet finally tallies, the happiness is better than winning a lottery. It feels like I have conquered the world.
Then there is the pressure of "What next?" Everyone asks the same question: "Are you doing CA? Are you going for an MBA? Or will you prepare for government jobs?" It feels like we are running a race that never ends. We have to learn laws, taxes, and how businesses work, all while trying to maintain our attendance in college.
But I love it. I love understanding how money works. I love that we are the ones who will manage the finances of the world one day.
So, to all my fellow B.Com friends: Don’t let anyone say your degree is "too easy." We deal with numbers that can make or break companies. Keep using that calculator and keep smiling!
Cheers to the Commerce life!
