The Marcus Aurelius University of Arts was known for being one of the most well-known and reputed universities in the field of arts, humanities, and philosophy in the world. It had a solid track record of producing notable people in the field of historical research, demographic sciences, and social studies. In fact, some of its alumni went on to become successful politicians as well. However, a recent discovery came to light, which changed everyone’s perception of the once esteemed university.
One unnamed student reportedly saw a few workers and janitors enter the basement carrying a ton of papers, and along with them, some young people who looked like they were students.
This discovery wasn’t too alarming at first, considering that janitors often went into the basement to retrieve their equipment. It was certainly strange to see some students enter the mysterious facility as well. The student thought it was strange but paid no mind to it.
A few days later, she saw some janitors bring even more papers and more students to the basement, but this time, there was a catch. The dean of the university was also going with them, alongside some senior professors. This piqued the student’s interest, and she followed them into the basement. What she saw there shocked her to the core.
The janitors and university staff were imprisoning students who had written high-quality research papers, articles, journals, etc., in the basement. This was being done so that the professors could claim credit for the best papers and thus improve the university’s reputation for hiring only the sharpest minds. The students who published mediocre or decent papers were spared, and only the finest students were punished. Since the university was so massive, a few students disappearing wouldn’t really raise any eyebrows.
She immediately ran off and was noticed by one of the janitors, who began chasing her. She ran for her life, praying that she didn’t join the rest of the students in their eternal vanquishment. At one point, she successfully managed to outrun the janitor and called the police. She told the authorities everything, and an investigation was conducted, which led to the arrests of the dean and several professors. Fortunately, all the captured students were freed from their prisons.
This story tells us one thing that we need to be mindful of: always stand firm to take credit for our honest, academic work. Getting help from professors or seniors is fine as long as they remember their roles as contributors and not necessarily as the main authors. It’s your work, so it’s your responsibility to defend the work with everything you have. Be proud of your contributions to the academic community, and stay active in your pursuit of knowledge.
