Who Was The Stalker Of Mudhorn University?

Long ago, Mudhorn University became a hot topic in the news because of a series of unexplained events that shocked the entire student body. The story goes that a student of English literature complained to her professor that she felt that she was being followed around the campus. Naturally, the professor told her to take action and report this to higher authorities. As she was on her way, she saw a mysterious figure, clad in black with his face obscured, walking towards her.

She was terrified and continued running, but stopped after realising that her stalker had either lost track of her or disappeared altogether. However, this was only the beginning.

Soon, many other students reported being stalked or followed. Sometimes the stalker chased them in public, sometimes he chased them in dark, dimly-lit alleys. What’s even more mysterious is the fact that the stalker didn’t have a preference for victims, as obsessive criminals usually have.

His victims included both men and women, although all of them were students. Soon, the legend of the stalker spread, and the mystique around his persona grew. At this point, the university board was forced to launch a large-scale manhunt to find this creepy intruder. But no amount of searching was able to find the fabled stalker of legend. This left the student body very unsettled, as it dawned on them that the stalker was a very normal person on the surface level, which is why he was able to escape being detected.

One particular law student, who had never personally faced the stalker himself, was working on an assignment around the time of this investigation. He was struggling to use the legal citation style that he had been taught, and he couldn’t find a way to properly implement it. That’s when he got the idea of using shoddy citations that he just made up. These citations were so terrible that you might as well call his assignment full of plagiarised content. The student went to sleep peacefully knowing that he somehow overcame the pesky citation hurdle, but his next few days were anything but peaceful.

He felt his skin crawl from the next day onwards as he, too, felt like he was being chased by the infamous Mudhorn stalker. It was at this point that he joined the club of students who were being haunted by this creep, but he soon came to realise something important. You see, all of the students who were being followed by this unnamed stalker had something in common with each other. They were all students who had used plagiarised content in their assignments to overcome short-term hurdles without realising the long-term consequences it could have.

Since plagiarism is no different from stealing, these students constantly felt like they were being followed by the original author who wants his/her content back. This was not a legal issue at this point, but a psychological issue that plagues students who choose to deviate from the principles of academic integrity.

Even today, there is a saying at Mudhorn University that the stalker will catch up to you if you don’t do your assignment honestly. And the fear of that nameless stalker has continued to motivate students to stay honest in their academic work for generations.
