Mr White, one of the most respected teachers in the city of Springsville, was declared a fugitive recently. It was said that he was involved in running a large cartel-like operation along with several racketeering businesses. This news came as a shock to every student in the school and the city, as nobody was expecting one of the most beloved teachers in the city to turn to a life of crime.
Interviews with friends and family members helped paint a picture of a distraught man who turned to the dark side due to a core problem in the education system. If we start from the beginning, Mr White was a humble man living with his family in a decent home. He lived a life marked by his past failures and resented himself for not being more successful despite his genius.
He thought, if he were as successful as some of his older colleagues, then he wouldn’t have to worry about his family’s future after he was gone. However, the unexpected happened, and Mr White’s future was jeopardized. He was diagnosed with severe cancer in the lungs, despite not being a smoker.
Mr White spent most of his time cursing his luck and all of creation for failing someone like him. He also came to the creeping realisation that he didn’t have enough savings for his family to survive on. Teachers across the world are not paid nearly enough in comparison to their contributions. Obviously, the need to protect his family’s future was more important to Mr White than having the moral high ground.
He began to use his chemistry knowledge to cook illicit substances and got into contact with local criminals to help him distribute his product. He worked smartly and was able to avoid getting caught. He kept on earning a meagre income as a teacher while also making bank working as a criminal.
However, his crimes would soon catch up to him as one brave police officer was able to find just enough evidence to label him as a key player in the illicit drugs industry. He was terrified and made the split-second decision to escape the city. Whatever legacy he had as an educator was destroyed by the revelation that he was actually a very powerful and dangerous criminal.
Nevertheless, his descent to a life of crime tells us that teachers often get paid much less than they deserve. Obviously, not everyone turns to a life of crime, but it is still important to note that this whole debacle could have been avoided if teachers like Mr White were paid enough money to take care of their families.
