Course Overview

You will learn how investment plans are created to meet financial objectives in a global setting in this specialisation. In addition to practical, hands-on skills that you can use, whether managing your own assets or your client's investment portfolio, you will get an understanding of the theory that guides wise investing decisions.

The first step will be to gain a broad grasp of financial markets and the effects that both rational and irrational behaviour can have on the macro and micro aspects of finance. After that, you'll have a better understanding of how to construct and maintain a long-term portfolio and develop an appreciation for cutting-edge financial research as well as adjacent fields and emerging trends that will influence the investment management sector going forward.

You will develop a reasonable five-year investment plan in the final capstone project that takes into consideration the objectives and limitations of an investor in a changing economic environment. Our business partner, UBS will have key speakers who will add to this specialisation by sharing with you their practical insights from years of working for the largest wealth manager in the world. The primary instructor and director of this specialisation is Dr. Michel Girardin, a macro-finance lecturer at the University of Geneva.
