The Mystery of the Invisible Student

The Mystery of the Invisible Student

In a renowned university, a legend spread around. This legend concerned a particular student who was both well- known and a mystery. The story goes that in a class of over 80 students, there used to be a student who scored some of the highest grades in the entire university. Despite all the academic glory he had obtained, nobody knew him.

Nobody knew what this student looked like, nobody claimed to be his friend, nobody even knew if he existed. Yet his name remained immortalised in the official registration documents of the university. Basically, this person was real in everything except in people’s memories. However, it took a little bit of effort from some students to find out who this mystery genius was.

As it turned out, this invisible man was a student who attended classes regularly, never really engaged in thoughtful discussions in the class, never talked to other students, and never became the center of attention. He was just a mundane, simple person who managed to stay out of everyone’s sight while never missing a single day of class.

Now the question arises: How exactly was he acing all his tests and consistently scoring high despite never really interacting with the professor that much? The answer to that mystery would be surprising to many students, who weren’t expecting that answer whatsoever. As it turns out, he was using an online tutoring service this entire time, and not only that, he was simultaneously practicing his academic writing skills. As expected, not a lot of students were too happy with this answer. They were irked by the fact that he is using a secondary, external service to gain an undeserved leverage over his classmates.

However, his professor would be the one to defend him. He said, “I don’t know whether or not you people think I am a good teacher, but I know for a fact that one teacher is not going to be the perfect teacher for more than 80 students. There are students who find it difficult to adapt to my teaching style, which is why I implore you to engage in discussions with me and I will tend to your problems personally. If you are too nervous to do that, at least take some form of initiative. That is exactly what your classmate here has been doing, he couldn’t find my classes compatible enough for him, which is why he took an initiative to study online.”

So what do you think? Do you agree that taking an initiative to help yourself study better is the best way to manage your studies? Or do you think that online tutoring services and other such amenities are too untrustworthy? Whatever the case, it’s in your hands to find the best way for yourself to learn!
